BDK Restaurant + Bar: A Modern American Tavern in Union Square
The Hotel Monaco is proud to introduce BDK, our stylish new restaurant named after our company's founder, Bill Drennon Kimpton, who is known for having created his own genuine and thoughtful form of hospitality, reflected in BDK's welcoming approach. Chef Heather Terhune heads up the kitchen, offering a soulful and satisfying menu of updated classics, while Kevin Diedrich presides over the bar.
An inviting setting for dining and drinking, BDK has the feel of a modern public house, highlighted with raw steel, leather, polished brass and oak. Chef Terhune's American menu includes playful touches throughout, from snacks and starters such as Thai Coconut Red Curry Popcorn and Bacon Jam served with brie and a baguette, to salads like Asparagus + Pea Shoots with sugar snap peas, mint, crispy croutons, ricotta, and Meyer lemon vinaigrette, and entrees such as the Pickle Brined Fried Chicken Thighs with coleslaw and mini buttermilk biscuits.
At the bar, Diedrich serves a robust menu of accessibly priced cocktails named for their predominant flavor profile such as Smoke and Herbal Licorice, as well as a collection of regional spirits and beers to pair with Terhune's cooking and to contribute to the city's thriving bar scene. The wine list emphasizes Chianti as a nod to Bill Kimpton, who favored wines from this region, and on-tap offerings include wine and beer in addition to Diedrich's take on the classic Old-Fashioned.
From dinner with friends and late-night drinks to breakfast meetings and family brunch on the weekends, BDK offers a vibrant and convivial backdrop for locals and visitors alike. The restaurant is currently open for dinner, drinks and breakfast, with brunch service to be added soon.
